International Fulbright Science and Technology Award

 

EARN A PHD DEGREE IN THE UNITED STATES

The International Fulbright Science and Technology award is for Undergraduate degree (Bachelors) or Graduate degree (Masters) holders who want to pursue Ph.D. studies at top U.S. institutions in science, technology, or engineering. 

The U.S. remains the premier destination for serious scientific study and research, and America not only welcomes top notch talent, we encourage future leaders to shape their careers through U.S. study. 

Eligible fields include: aeronautics and astronomics/aeronautical engineering, astronomy/planetary sciences, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, computer sciences/engineering, energy, engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), environmental science/engineering, geology/earth and atmospheric sciences, information sciences/engineering, materials science/engineering, mathematics, neuroscience/brain and cognitive sciences, oceanography, and physics. 

The Fulbright Commission along with participating U.S. universities will fund the program.

• monthly stipend

• book and equipment allowance
• professional conference allowance
• travel support
• specially tailored enrichment activities
• eligible for additional research funding

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:  Each applicant will be required to submit an online application at https://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/international along with all supporting documents.
o A complete application includes:
o An typed online application which includes:
o A clearly written research objective
o A professional resume
o Three letters of reference
o Official (or scanned and attached to the online application)
o Academic transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended
o English language test scores (when available)
o GRE General and GRE subject exam test scores (when available)

Application must be received in the U.S. Embassy by June 26, 2008 @ 3:00 pm   for full consideration.

Specific Requirements:
• Applicants must be Bahraini citizens and residing in Bahrain.
• Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree that is recognized by the Ministry of Education before August 1, 2008.
• Applicants must have demonstrated academic excellence through indicators such as grade point average (3.0), class rank (top 5%), and special awards.
• Applicant must be fluent in English and achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 580 on the paper-and-pencil based test.
• Research proposals that demonstrate a commitment to serving Bahraini society and/or Bahraini-American relations will be given preference.

The U.S. embassy reception desk must receive a complete application not later than (June 26, 2008 @ 3 pm).
