English Language Teaching Professional Development Conference Participant Program
This competitive regional program partially sponsors the participation of English language professionals' participation in annual professional development conferences in the region and in the United States.
Dates of upcoming conferences:
- Nov. 18-20, 2009: CTELT conference in Dubai
- Feb, 2-4, 2010: Nile TESOL Skills conference in Cairo
- Mar. 11-13, 2010: TESOL Arabia conference in Dubai
- Mar. 24-27, 2010: Global TESOL conference in Boston, USA
- Apr. 9-10, 2010: Qatar TESOL conference in Doha
Preferred candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Hold a valid passport from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, or the United Arab Emirates and reside in the respective country;
- Are leaders or potential leaders in English language education in their home country;
- Are in a position to relay or share the information and knowledge gained during the conference;
- Have had an abstract accepted to conduct a workshop or present a research paper at one of the conferences;
- Have not participated in an English Language Teaching conference before;
- Are prepared to share living accommodations and able to make adjustments to cultural and social practices different from those of their home country;
- Are willing and able to participate in an intensive academic program and educational travel; and
- Are committed to returning to their home country following completion of the conference.
