American Duo Fuse Bahraini and American Music
Renowned American musicians Tom Teasley and Charles Williams traveled to Bahrain from October 20-22 to perform at the Royal University for Women and the Shaikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research. Performing together as Word Beat, the duo captivated audiences with their innovative blend of percussion, song, and spoken word. Teaming up with Bahraini drummers during their visit, Tom and Charles fused the traditional pearl diving percussion rhythms with contemporary jazz, blues, and hip hop in order to create a new and unique Bahraini-American sound. The two musicians also visited the Bahrain Music Institute and the Police Band, conducting master classes and impromptu workshops for both.
