Acting Assistant Secretary Feltman Visits Bahrain
On June 14 and 15, Acting Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffery Feltman visited Bahrain to meet with senior leadership and discuss America's strategic partnership with Bahrain. Ambassador Feltman met with Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defense Forces Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and with Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa.
During his visit, Ambassador Feltman expressed appreciation for the strong U.S.-Bahrain partnership and continuing cooperation on a number of issues. He discussed American efforts to promote regional peace and stability, particularly on the Israeli-Palestinian issue. Ambassador Feltman also conducted a press roundtable with local journalists, during which he discussed the U.S.-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement, the situation in Iraq, and the possibility for dialogue between the United States and Iran.
