Demonstration Notice (April 17, 2008)

 

Spontaneous demonstrations take place in Bahrain from time to time in response to world events or local developments.  We remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possible escalate into violence.  American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.  American citizens should stay current with media coverage of local events and be aware of their surroundings at all times.  Upcoming demonstration information follows:

On Thursday April 17 - Two demonstrations are planned:

  • - 4.00pm in the Saar area; (previously reported).
  • - 7.30pm in the Jidhafs area..

On Friday April 18 - Four demonstrations are planned:

  • - 3.30pm in the Sanabis area;
  • - 4.00pm in the Karbabad (Seef) area;
  • - 4.00pm in the Sitra area; and
  • - 7.30pm in the Beni Jamrah area. Spontaneous demonstrations are also likely to occur in the Jidhafs area.

On Saturday April 19 - A demonstration is planned in the Damistan area beginning at 7.00pm

On Sunday April 20 - A demonstration is planned in the Damistan area beginning at 7.00pm
