Meeting Attended by International Security Experts
Manama, Bahrain - More than 150 security managers, analysts and practitioners, with responsibility for the Middle East region, gathered in Manama, Bahrain, for the third annual conference addressing issues of highest security concern for their operations in the region.
The conference was hosted by the Bahraini and Saudi chapters of the U.S. Department of State's Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) - the premier security-related information-sharing partnership between the U.S. government and the American private sector operating overseas. The meeting was held June 8-9, 2009
The OSAC Middle East Regional Conference was attended not just by OSAC's Middle East-based constituency, but also by several Regional Security Officers of local U.S. embassies and consulates, OSAC headquarters in Washington, D.C., and many other international experts in the field of Middle East security. Issues on the agenda included: updates on al-Qa'ida and the terror threat; maritime security; the security implications of the global financial crisis; crisis management; and several country- and regional-specific briefings.
