Language Specialist Conducts Camp for Orphans
From June 14-25, the American Embassy, in cooperation with the Royal Charities Organization and the General Organization for Youth and Sports, is sponsoring an English language summer camp for approximately 80 Bahraini orphans who are under the patronage of the Royal Charities Organization.
American English Language Specialist, Mr. Scott Chiverton is conducting the camp. Mr. Chiverton, who has taught English and conducted similar camps in Taiwan, Brazil, and South Africa, is enthusiastic about working with Bahraini youth.
"This is my first trip to the Middle East and a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the culture and heritage of Bahrain. I am excited about this program, and believe it is an excellent way to reinforce valuable life skills as well as improve English language skills. This camp will allow participants to use their English, develop new friendships, learn to listen to and value the opinions of others, and have fun," said Mr. Chiverton.
The English language summer camp utilizes hands-on activities that allow campers to improve their English language skills, and will emphasize important values such as leadership, teamwork, respect, discipline, and self-confidence. The program includes team building activities, art projects, sports, skits, games, and other activities.
