American Corner hosts MEPI session
On January 22, alumnae of the Middle East Partnership Initiative Student Leaders Program (MEPI SL), Reem Mearaj, Huda Al-Hawaj and Eman Ahmed, held an information session in the newly-opened American Corner at Bahrain Polytechnic. The alumnae shared their experiences with prospective applicants to the 2012 MEPI SL program, and answered a broad variety of questions. They emphasized the uniqueness of the program and the value of understanding and appreciating the principles of democracy.
The MEPI SL is a fully-funded six-week intensive leadership training program in the U.S. for undergraduate students. Participants develop collective problem-solving skills while exploring U.S. history and culture to expand their leadership skills and knowledge. The program consists of hands-on leadership training workshops, academic sessions, site visits, community service projects, optional home stays and other opportunities for interaction with Americans peers.
