American Corner Hosts Lecture on Women’s Achievements
On April 17, the Isa Cultural Center hosted Director of the National Library, Dr. Mansour Sarhan and U.S. Deputy Public Affairs Officer, Shana Kieran, to discuss the social, political and cultural contributions of women in Bahraini and American society, respectively. Dr. Mansour spoke primarily on Bahraini women’s contributions to culture throughout the 20th century and to the present day. Ms. Kieran followed with a lecture on women’s literature in the United States since the American Revolution. She discussed the impact of women’s writings on movements for social, racial and gender equality. The session was attended by nearly 40 members of the Bahraini public and concluded with a spirited question and answer session.
