Online Journalism Training

University of Bahrain students from the Department of Mass Communications had the opportunity to learn more about online journalism during the week of October 18.  Using digital video conferencing, 13 Bahraini students participated in a one-week course with U.S. trainer Joshua Hatch, who was sponsored by the Embassy.

Topics during the course included blogging basics and investigative reporting through the internet.  On the final day of the course, students are required to give a final presentation on an issue related to online journalism.

Mr. Hatch is multimedia producer at USA Today and has extensive experience in the field of on-line journalism and new media. He is active in the Online News Association and is currently helping program and plan the 2009 and 2010 international conventions.  Mr. Hatch holds a master's degree from American University.
