American Ambassador Congratulates Fulbright Language Teaching Assistantship Program Participants
The American Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E. Mr. Adam Ereli, presented certificates to Ms. Shaima Bukeli and Ms. Samar Jaberi and congratulated them on their completion of the Fulbright Language Teaching Assistantship (FLTA) Program. During the 2006-2007 academic year, Ms. Shaima taught Arabic at Wellesley College and Ms. Samar at Boston University, both in Massachusetts.
The FLTA is part of the prestigious Fulbright Program and for forty years has brought scholars to the United States to teach languages. As the scholars teach their languages, they have the opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and learn about the United States as well as attend graduate classes at their universities. This year there are five Bahraini scholars teaching Arabic in the United States on this nine-month exchange program.
The American Embassy is currently accepting applications for the 2008-2009 academic year. The deadline for applications is Thursday, December 6, 2007. Information is available on http://bahrain.usembassy.gov/educational_exchange/exchange-programs3/flta.html or via e-mail hashemf@state.gov
