The American Embassy announces the launching of the Access Plus Internship and Workplace Readiness Program as an extension of the embassy sponsored Access English Language Microscholarship Program. Access Plus, formed in partnership with the American Cultural and Educational Center (ACEC), the American Chamber of Commerce and with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Bahrain, will provide internships, work place preparedness support and seminars and intensive English language training for Bahraini youth.

Announcing the program at the conclusion of the UNESCO Conference, Youth at the Crossroad:  A Future Without Violent Radicalization, American Assistant Secretary of Education, Ms. Kerri L. Briggs, noted that Access Plus is an extension of the Access Microscholarship Program which provides intensive English language for youth in forty-four countries. Access Plus will enable up to fifty young Bahraini participants in the Access to program to compete for month-long internships sponsored by local companies. Participants will also attend seminars on work place readiness issues such as applying for jobs and internships, interviewing techniques, adjusting to the work place, getting along with co-workers, and strategies for success at work. Following their internship, corporate sponsors will fund additional English language training at the ACEC.
