U.S. Ambassador honors Bentley in Bahrain’s Class of 2006
U.S. Ambassador William T. Monroe hosted students, parents and faculty of Bentley College and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance at a reception held at his residence in honor of Bentley’s Class of 2006, the college’s first graduating class in Bahrain.
The event highlighted the presence of the premier educational institution now available to Bahrainis locally. Bentley’s Bahrain Program is a product of the vision and efforts of Bentley and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). In 2002, Bentley began offering a Bachelor of Science degree at BIBF with a Management major and an Information Technology minor. From its inception, the program has been consistent with the mission of Bentley, which provides students with a solid business education with an information technology emphasis while fostering cultural understanding and exchange.
Acquiring this excellent education is achieved by the same Bentley faculty members teaching at BIBF and delivering the same material to students in Manama as they would in Waltham, Massachusetts. Through liberal arts courses and case studies, students learn about the importance of cultural understanding and respect when conducting business in a global economy. The program gives students the opportunity to interact with other members of the Bentley community during the summer, when they attend classes on the main campus in Waltham.
After four years of study the students earn a Bentley College degree. These different components differentiate ‘Bentley in Bahrain’ from other programs in the region. The first graduating class of 2006 is a testament to the students’ success, and of Bentley’s commitment to providing a technology-oriented, internationally-based business degree in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
