Teachers Participate in Online Course

"Before this course I didn't know what a blog was, and now I have my own!" exclaimed one of the Bahraini graduates of Integrating the Internet into the Classroom. This online course is taught by Professor Michael Krauss of Lewis and Clark College. Four Bahraini secondary school teachers participated in the course along with teachers from the US, China, and Eastern Europe.

Integrating the Internet Into the Classroom was developed in 1998 for USIA to support the online training of ESL/EFL teachers in central and eastern Europe. Interested teachers should visit http://www.lclark.edu/~krauss/usia/home.html for more information.
The Bahraini course participants are looking forward to using the internet in their classes in the coming academic year. They plan to have students develop their own blogs and webpages, and do multimedia projects based on internet research. The teachers also plan to stay in touch with their new-found colleagues from the course.

“I never thought I would have a colleague in China—or that we would have some of the same concerns and ideas about teaching!”, one participant observed. “The internet really is making the world a smaller place.
