Volunteers for Change
Ambassador Monroe gave opening remarks at the workshop “Volunteers for Change”, held March 27 – 30 at the Shaikh Khalifa Institute of Technology, under the Patronage of the Ministry of Education. The Ambassador underscored the importance of voluntary service in the development of a vibrant civil society. The workshop was organized by the Bahrain GLOBE Program students and leaders. It featured expert Dr. Russell Cargo, Co-Director of the Institute For Governance & Accountabilities, Virginia Tech, whose visit was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Embassy. The workshop included lectures on voluntary work, development of community service projects and how to organize volunteers, group work activities, discussions and local case studies.
