On June 6, the American NGO Freedom House and the Bahraini Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled held a graduation ceremony for 144 participants who completed a special needs training program. The event was held under the patronage of HE Dr. Fatima Al Balushi, Minister of Social Development.

Members of Parliament and civil society organizations attended the event to show their support to the participants.

Developed by Freedom House, the training program is a three-part special needs program offered in collaboration with the Bahraini Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled and the U.S. Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).  The program includes training for teachers of disabled children, for mothers of children with disabilities, and for women with disabilities, with the aim of better preparing them to more effectively advocate for their rights.
