Undergraduate Exchange Program
The Undergraduate Exchange Program awards scholarships to undergraduates for one academic year of study in the U.S. in a non-degree program. Students are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study and live on-campus with American peers. Candidates who are selected for the Undergraduate Exchange Program may pursue studies in all academic fields except law or medicine. Applicants must be proficient in English and have a strong interest in learning about the United States.
Application Procedures:
To apply for the program, please submit the following:

A completed, typed application form;

A typed personal statement in English of 350-500 detailing why you are interested in the program;

A copy of the data page of your passport;

Official transcripts for years of university study, if available;

Official results of the national general secondary school, high school diploma, or IB exams;

Three letters of recommendation from teachers/professors, including one from secondary school;

A copy of your TOEFL or ITP scores, if available;

Two passport-size photos (attached to the first page of the application).
Please submit your application package to the Educational Advisor at the American Embassy no later than Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. (extended deadline).
Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be Bahraini citizens and residing in Bahrain.

Applicants must have demonstrated academic excellence according to indicators such as grade point average (3.0), class rank (top 5%), and special awards.

Applicant must be proficient in English and must be able to fully participate in university level coursework conducted in English.

Applicants must complete secondary school by June 2009, or be enrolled as full-time undergraduates at a university in Bahrain.
