Visa Services
U.S. Visit Program
US-Visit procedures are currently in place at 115 international airports, 15 major seaport and 50 land ports of entry in the U.S. With a few exception, all travelers with visas entering the United States will have an electronic scan taken of right and left index fingers and will be photographed by a digital camera.
Checking In and Out
- US-VISIT exit procedures are operating in nine locations: Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Denver International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Luis Munoz International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, San Francisco International Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Miami International Cruise Line Terminal. Visitors leaving from these locations must check out. The exit pilot program will be piloted at additional airports and seaports in the coming months.
- NSEERS is still an active program for some travelers arriving at a US port of entry and is separate from US-VISIT. Individuals subject to NSEERS will continue to be registered under that program when they enter and will be required to report when they depart the United States. Failure to comply will result in result in a presumption of future visa ineligibility or inadmissibility for reentry. There is, however, no longer any requirement for NSEERS registrants in the United States to reregister periodically or for persons already in the United States to register for NSEERS.
- Checking out at the US-VISIT kiosks will not meet the requirement of checking out under NSEERS. Persons subject to NSEERS must go to the special check-out station that is solely for NSEERS check-out.
- The goal of US-VISIT is to enhance the security of the United States without slowing the system for legitimate visitors. We hope that your visit to the U.S. will be safe and enjoyable and that you will not find the new security measures an inconvenience. Further details of US-VISIT are at the DHS website, www.dhs.gov/us-visit. Information is also available at the Department's special website for visa information, http://www.unitedstatesvisas.gov/.
